About the Show

Bring A CBS 5 Meteorologist To Your School!

Bring a CBS 5 Meteorologist to your school!

Are your educators looking for a fun and interactive way to teach weather? We welcome the opportunity to interact with the community, especially with Valley schools. With that said, we would like to bring the CBS 5 Weather Road Show to your school!

The CBS 5 Weather Road Show presents your students with an opportunity to learn about severe weather, television weather forecasting, fun weather facts, as well as other specific weather elements from CBS 5 Meteorologists who live weather daily!

If you would like to schedule a visit, or have any questions about this program, please fill out the submission form and a CBS 5 representative will contact you. Please keep in mind schools are chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Visits are filling up fast for the 2009-2010 school year so request a visit today! Check back often for updates and videos of this year's school visits! Thank you and we look forward to working with you this school year!

Program Specifics

  • Presentations last about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the amount of questions from students.
  • Presentations work best in groups of no more than 150 students.
  • Visits are limited to one time per school for the academic year.
  • Visits will not be scheduled during holiday weeks.
  • School visits are available: Tuesdays at 1pm, Wednesdays at 1pm, and Thursdays at 9:30am.
  • Scheduled dates are tentative and may be subject to rescheduling based on availability, breaking news, or other conflicts. Please note: All school visits are subject to station management approval, (i.e. driving distance to/from school visits) since these cannot interfere with Meteorologists’ station obligations.
  • A television, DVD (or VCR) player, chalk board/dry erase board/smart board, and table are needed for presentations. A microphone and speakers are helpful in presentations with larger groups.
  • Because visits will be shown during CBS 5 Newscasts as well as in the Weather Road Show video player on this page, a media release form must be signed by each child’s parent/guardian and returned to our Meteorologist upon his arrival. The form can be downloaded here, and is also available in Spanish here.
  • Students will receive goodie bags from our sponsor at the end of the presentation.
