Ticket Mistake May Have Cost Woman Job

Claims She Never Received Decade-Old Citation

Elizabeth Vaughan says she thought she had a much-needed job in the bag, but a mistake involving a photo-radar ticket from a decade ago spoiled her chances.

"I got a call and they said, 'We're going to choose another candidate,' because my driving record isn't clean," said Vaughan.

It turns out that Vaughan's record was tainted by a photo-radar ticket in Scottsdale dating back to 1999.

Vaughan said she never received the citation in the mail and that she had to call the city court to learn the details.

"The best I can tell is that my license was suspended sometime this year, and I was never informed," she said.

Vaughan fought the ticket and won because a representative from the State of Arizona didn't show up for a court hearing, but it's still too late for that job opportunity.

Meanwhile, a City of Scottsdale spokesman said he's looking into why the ticket reappeared.
