RALEIGH, N.C. -

A packed Hillsborough Street played host Saturday to Packapalooza, a free event for the public to kick off a new school year for North Carolina State University.

In its third year, the event had more than 300 venders to serve an expected 50,000 people.

An extra city block was added this year to accommodate Packapalooza's growth.

Multiple stages were set up for concerts, dance performances and fashion shows.

N.C. State athletics teams signed autographs for fans throughout the day.

Country music star and N.C. State student Scotty McCreery is scheduled to perform at the stage near the Belltower.

Packapalooza runs until 10 p.m.
