Raleigh police investigating 2 armed robberies

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Police are investigating two robberies that occurred late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning in Raleigh.

The first robbery was reported at 10:57 p.m. Wednesday at the Lime Fresh Mexican Grill in the Brier Creek shopping center, authorities said.

According to police, a man with a masked face and armed with a hand gun went into the restaurant and stole money and an employee's cell phone before he fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male who stands 6-foot to 6-foot-2 with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hoodie and dark-colored jeans.

The second robbery occurred at the Food Lion store at 4827 Grove Barton Road and was reported at 12:08 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, two suspects entered the store and held employees at gunpoint while they robbed the business. Both suspects were describes as being black males, and both of them were armed with handguns and wearing masks.

There are no indications that the two robberies are related to one another.

The Food Lion robbery appears to be part of pattern of commercial robberies, police said.
