Posted: Updated:

Johnston County Schools has launched new software called “EdChat” that is designed to be a simple way to give parents, teachers, staff, students and community members an outlet for ideas, concerns and praise.

EdChat is a link that resides directly on the district website ( and can be accessed directly to

“EdChat reflects our belief that every voice should be heard,” stated Ed Croom, superintendent of Johnston County Schools. “Now anyone in our community can easily let us know exactly what is on his or her mind. We are here to serve our district, so we are thrilled to offer a way to easily engage in a productive dialogue.”

The basic premise behind EdChat is that, unlike postings on social media, itallows every comment to be considered and directed to appropriate staff for follow-up, the Johnston County Schools said in a news release.

Participants may leave their contact information or choose to remain anonymous. Submissions that include an email address will receive a response within 48 hours. Candid feedback is not only accepted, but appreciated.

“Our community is our greatest resource,” Croom said. “EdChat encourages conversations that strengthen relationships, resolve problems and promote collaborative success.”
