AZ state prison inmate dead in apparent homicide

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An inmate at the Eyman state prison complex in Florence died after suffering traumatic injuries Saturday afternoon, Arizona Department of Corrections officials said.

The body of Lino Flores, 53, was discovered shortly after 2 p.m.  

ADC personnel performed lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are questioning another inmate, Julio Salazar, 32, in connection with the apparent homicide. 

Flores was serving a life sentence on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, sexual assault, possession of a deadly weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Salazar is serving sentences for first-degree murder and manslaughter.

The criminal investigation is ongoing.
