Mayor Collins uncertain if algae tests were false positives

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Days after the 'all clear' was given for Toledo's tap water, many people still aren't convinced it's really safe to drink, but according to Mayor Collins, there's a chance it was never really dangerous at all.

In an interview with Jerry Anderson, Mayor Collins was asked if there's a chance we were dealing with false positives over the weekend.

"I believe that would be true," Mayor Collins said.  "I realize the gravity (of what he'd said), but I can only act with the information I have.  They told me this is what these tests meant."

When pressed further, the Mayor said he's not saying that was the case, but that he also could not rule out the possibility that the crisis really wasn't.

The interview also revealed that the testing done at Lake Superior State said from its first results there was no problem with the water.

You can see the full interview with Mayor Collins this Sunday morning at 8:30.
