CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

Chandler police took three people into custody after a stabbing at a golf course early Thursday morning.

Several people got into a fight about 4:35 a.m. at the Bear Creek Golf Course at 500 E. Riggs Rd., and one person was stabbed, Chandler Police Sgt. Jo Favazzo said.

Officers arrived at the same time the suspects' vehicle took off, Favazzo.

The suspects refused to stop and police chased them onto the Gila River Indian Community, where they backed into one of the police vehicles, Favazzo said.

The suspects eventually crashed in a canal at Dobson and Goodyear roads, where the three were captured, Favazzo said.

He said all the people involved knew each other and that officers were looking at a family argument a few days earlier that might have led to the altercation.

The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a minor wound, Favazzo said.
