PHOENIX, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Drivers using I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix this weekend should plan for construction closures Friday and Saturday night.

Crews will pave the highway between Casa Grande and Chandler starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. This work will continue through Saturday morning at 8. Then, on Saturday night the roadwork will start again at 8 p.m., lasting to 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Delays should be especially heavy around 11 p.m. as workers improve the asphalt on I-10 near Riggs Road.

If you're traveling west and want to bypass Phoenix, you can detour on Interstate 8 then heading north on State Route 85 at Gila Bend to get back to I-10.

Heading east towards Tucson, drivers can travel south on State Route 85 and then east on I-8 to avoid I-10 restrictions.

Remember to always drive carefully in all cone zones and watch for construction workers and equipment.
