SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Scottsdale police said a man confined to a wheelchair who went missing Wednesday night has been found safe at his home in Gilbert.

Officers said it was unclear how he managed to make it that far safely.

Dion Davis, 44, disappeared from Scottsdale Nursing & Rehab Center around 7:30 p.m. Surveillance video from the area showed Davis in a blue, high-backed wheelchair on Drinkwater traveling toward Scottsdale Road.

Davis has been confined to a wheelchair ever since he suffered a stoke, leaving him paralyzed on his right side. The man does not communicate, police said.

Police said this isn't the first time Davis disappeared from the facility. Last time, he was found by staff members in the adjacent parking lot.
