PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Authorities have released the name of the man who drowned at Saguaro Lake on Saturday after diving off a 20- to 25-foot-high cliff.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said the victim is Thomas Huber, 42, of Scottsdale.

Witnesses told deputies Huber was attempting a forward flip. The momentum of the flip caused him to over rotate and instead of hitting the water with his feet, he landed on his back, deputies said.

Huber surfaced briefly and then went under and did not appear again. Witnesses said they never heard Huber call for help or show any signs he might be in distress.

MCSO lake patrol divers located his body in about 8 feet of water. The current carried his body a short distance downstream from where he had initially entered the water, sheriff's investigators said.

An initial body exam indicated there were no obvious signs of trauma. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office.
