Undocumented immigrants leaving Texas, heading to California

Posted: Updated:
The immigration crisis continues this morning.  The First Lady of Guatemala is here in Tucson to check on the number of undocumented children crossing the border.

Undocumented immigrants who were in Texas are now heading to the San Diego area.  The first plane carrying around 150 of them took off on Tuesday.

This flight is part of an effort to handle the influx of undocumented immigrants coming into the U.S. illegally.

Immigration officials say the migrants are mostly adults with children, from Central America.

"I also want to encourage everyone to keep in mind that these are people. They are citizens who are fleeing areas that are less desirable," said the Mayor of Murietta.

Once off the plane, they loaded onto buses and headed to Murrieta, where dozens of angry residents protested their arrival. The protestors turned back three buses, which were trying to drop the undocumented immigrants at the California Border Patrol station there.

Residents say they are not happy with the way this crisis is being handled by the government.
