A 29-year-old woman was found dead Monday in the passenger seat of an abandoned car in Whitewater Township.
Two citizens called police after spotting the Pontiac sedan crashed into a pole in the 1000 block of Cilley Road. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still not releasing her name but friends and family of the victim are identifying her as Jena Nicole Higgins. Her mother reportedly listed her as missing on Monday.
Police said it appeared the car she was found in had crashed early Sunday morning while traveling westbound at high speeds. They believe the driver lost control, struck two trees and then hit a utility pole.
The Pontiac was found in heavy brush about 30 feet south of the road, concealing it from passing vehicles.
The driver abandoned the car after the accident, according to authorities, and has since been taken into custody for questioning.
Police said witnesses reported seeing the driver and the woman Saturday night at a bar in Cleves. The driver's name has not been released.
Sheriff Jim Neil said Alcohol and or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. The Hamilton County Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate.
