A masked man who robbed the Dollar General Store in Clay allegedly grabbed a female employee by the hair and forced her to open the cash register, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports.
Deputies responded to a robbery at the Dollar General in the 2200 block of Brewster Road a little before 10 p.m. on Friday, June 13.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian said the suspect, armed with a handgun, robbed the store and fled from the scene before the deputies arrived.
Deputies learned the man forced a female employee to the front of the store by pulling her by the hair. The suspect then grabbed cash from the register and hit the employee in the head with his gun, which knocked her to the ground.
The employee was treated at a hospital and later released.
Officials describe the suspect as a black male, 5'10" and 180 pounds. He was wearing all black, including a black mask.
