"For the bottom of my skirt I did black Duck Tape," said Ward.
"She basically had to walk me through it," said Patton.
The cousins thought the Duck Brand Duck Tape challenge would be a good way to turn heads and qualify for a combined $20,000 in scholarships.
"I like to make things and I thought making it with duck tape would be even better, and a challenge," said Ward, who wants to be a fashion designer. She is heading to Kent State in the fall. "It would help a lot with tuition and it would just help with like books, room and board and just getting started."
Patton still has some time left in high school, but he knows it will be hard to top memories from this year's prom.
"People was coming up to me and was like 'Can I touch it?' And I was like, 'Yeah, it's Duck Tape, it's not going to mess up anything,'" explained Ward.
