MORRISVILLE, N.C. -

Investigators say they have concluded that a 46-year-old man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in their Morrisville home.

Police say a friend visiting Jonathan Preston and his 43-year-old wife Melissa heard gunshots and found them dead Monday morning.

Authorities say the friend told dispatchers the couple was having problems.

Morrisville Police Capt. Felecia Sykes says investigators were able to determine Jonathan Preston killed his wife before killing himself. She says the shooting stemmed from domestic problems between the two.

Authorities say the couple's three children were not home at the time of the shooting.
