MOHAVE VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

A Mohave Valley man was behind bars after he allegedly shot at his wife and daughter as they drove away from their house Monday morning.

Mohave County sheriff's deputies said they arrested Lorenzo Hernandez III, 38, in front of his house drinking a beer after his wife told them he fired a gun as they drove away from home about 9 a.m., a sheriff's office spokesman said.

The 25-year-old woman was met by deputies a little more than a mile away from their home and said she and Hernandez had been arguing and that he asked her to come to a bedroom to talk.

She said she grabbed their 17-year-old daughter, ran to their car and heard a gun being cocked from the bedroom, the spokesman said.

She and her daughter told deputies they saw Hernandez standing in the doorway and fire a handgun as they drove away.

Hernandez told deputies he didn't own any guns, but a search of the residence turned up a sawed-off shotgun in a bedroom closet and a .22-caliber handgun in a drawer, the spokesman said. A plastic bag of marijuana was also found.

No one was hurt, the spokesman said.

Hernandez was booked into the Mohave County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon per domestic violence, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies.
