The campus Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity was closed by the national chapter on Thursday.
OXFORD, MS -
(WMC-TV) - An Ole Miss fraternity will close on the University of Mississippi campus.
This comes after three members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity were suspected of draping a noose and Georgia flag over the James Meredith statue on campus.
Prosecutors have not filed any official charges in the incident, because the act did not actually vandalize the statue.
The campus' Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity was closed by the national chapter on Thursday.
At the university's request, the national headquarters conducted an internal review of the fraternity that uncovered conduct violating both fraternity and university policies. This conduct included underage drinking and hazing incidents.
