MEDINA, OH (WOIO) -

A Cleveland man is in custody Wednesday, accused in a shooting at Ray Mellert Park.

Medina Police say Greg Prince, 22, shot Jose Algarin, 32, around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. This happened while Algarin was walking westbound in the parking lot of Ray Mellert (Foundry side).

Algarin was shot in the head. He was driven to the hospital by his girlfriend's brother and then life-flighted to MetroHealth Hospital. He was scheduled for emergency surgery Wednesday.

Police say after the shooting, Prince went to his cousin, Diamond Glenn's apartment.  He forced Glenn to drive him out of town in her vehicle all the while waving the pistol at her.

Various family members were in telephone contact with Glenn as she was being forced to drive and they forwarded information to Medina Police.

Prince told family members he wanted to shoot it out with police. Prince's uncle was able to talk him into meeting at the McDonalds in Brunswick to surrender.

The uncle called Brunswick Police who responded and took Prince into custody. Glenn was released unharmed. The gun, a Rohm .22 caliber revolver was recovered.

Prince is charged with felonious assault and kidnapping.

No motive is being released.
