NEWINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A man arrested for robberies in Southington and Wolcott has been arrested for the same crime in Newington.

Brett Downs was accused of robbing a Shell Gas Station at 1593 Southeast Rd., according to police. The crime happened on Jan. 23.

Police said departments from other towns assisted in identifying Downs as the suspect. They said he was identified through forensic evidence left at the crime scenes.

A sock left at the scene in Wolcott linked police to a robbery at a Cumberland Farms on Dec. 23. Police said he wore it on one of his hands.

Downs was also arrested for robbing a Kaival Food Mart/Gulf Gas Station on Feb. 7.

In the Newington case, he was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny.

Downs was arraigned Friday at New Britain Superior Court. Police said he's being held on $75,000 bond.
