NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

New Haven police have released pictures and surveillance video of the van they believe is connected to Tuesday's hit-and-run crash in which a 8-year-old girl was injured.

An unidentified girl was trying to catch the bus and walking across the intersection of Ferry Street and Pine Street around 7:30 a.m.

The girl was struck by white van, which police said fled the scene, and taken to the hospital.

Police said she the girl was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated for "severe facial injuries." Though she was released this week from the hospital, police said "she will no doubt endure a long recovery."

Investigators said they believe the vehicle involved was a 1996-2002 Chevrolet Express Cargo van and they are trying to locate the van's driver.

The driver will face felony evading charges, but police said there was no description of the suspect.

The van headed southbound Ferry Street and traveled westbound on to Grand Avenue, police said.

Police released surveillance pictures of the vehicle and video. There is graphic language in the video, click here to view it.
