SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Two males were accused of robbing a man in the parking lot of the Southington Police Station on Wednesday night.

Southington dispatchers were monitoring their video surveillance around 6:10 p.m. when they spotted two teenagers approaching a man getting into his car.

The two suspects, who were later identified as Corey Marez and a 17-year-old juvenile, approached the victim as he entered his car and demanded money. Marez and the juvenile, whose name cannot be released due to his age, claimed to have fire arms and threatened to use them, if necessary, according to police.

They also threatened to kill the victim's family if he did not cooperate. As the victim took his wallet out of his pocket, police said the juvenile snatched it from his hand, and the two got away with a reported total of $22.

Marez and the juvenile then returned to their own car where their two friends were waiting. Investigators said the two friends were supposedly dealing with their own business with the police inside the station, while the robbery took place.

Dispatch took the suspects' license plate number after the altercation and sent officers after them.

Marez and the juvenile were picked up by police shortly after. The victim visually identified Marez and the juvenile and the two were arrested.

The stolen money was not recovered.

Marez and the juvenile were both charged with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening.

Marez was also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny while the juvenile was charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.

Marez was being held on a $2,5000 bond and expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
