HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Members of three Connecticut National Guard units will be honored during a formal homecoming ceremony at the Governor William A. O'Neill State Armory in Hartford Tuesday night.

The following units, which returned to Connecticut over the past eight months, will be recognized:

  • Connecticut Army National Guard's 143rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of Waterbury
  • 1048th Transportation Company of Enfield
  • B Company, 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment of Windsor Locks

During Monday's ceremony, Staff Sgt. Alex Seretny, of Windham, and Spc. Michael Peterson, of Weymouth, MA, will be given the Purple Heart. Officials said 20 soliders will receive Bronze Star medals.

The about 60 members of the 143rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion of Waterbury, who returned in December 2013, will be honored for their service in Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The almost 160 members of 1048th Transportation Company, who returned in August 2013, will be honored for their service in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The about 55 members of 104th Aviation Regiment of Windsor Locks, who returned in September 2013, will be honored for their services in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Monday's ceremony is expected to be one of the last of its size, according to Connecticut National Guard officials, because of military efforts being scaled back in Afghanistan.
