SHELTON, CT (WFSB) -

The family of a 15-year-old boy was shot in Shelton over the weekend told Eyewitness News that he remains in a coma and is barely hanging on to life.

Kristjan Ndoj, who is a sophomore at Shelton High School, was hit by two bullets while standing while on his bike Saturday, according to police. One hit him in the head, the other the leg.

"Leg first, after he went down he was shot here," said Kristjan's uncle, Mark Ndoj, who was pointing to his head.

He was found on Agawam Trail, which neighbors have said was a quiet area.

"That's very bad," Mark Ndoj said. "He's almost passed away."

Investigators have been trying to figure out where the shots were fired.

They're also looking into whether Kristjan received any threats beforehand.

Sources and the victim's family told Eyewitness News Kristjan's girlfriend called him to come to a party. He rode his bike several miles and was in the driveway with a 17-year-old friend when the two shots were fired.

Family and friends said another teen threatened Kristjan over a girl. Police are looking into that as well as many other leads.

On Monday, police ran string lines from where Kristjan was found into a wooded area where they believe the shots were fired. They said so far, no shell casings were located.

Police also told Eyewitness News they do not have any reason to believe other teens or people in the community are in danger.

Shelton school officials said they have been working with police and their students. They said Kristjan's classmates were still in shock from the incident.

"I don't know why someone would do that to him. He was like the sweetest person," said Qerim Dumani, who is the victim's friend. Seriously, he was so nice, very, very nice."

A fundraising page has been created to support Kristjan and his parents, who are out of work at this time and need to pay for his medical bills. You can find it here.

"Everyone is shocked," Dumani said. "He's 15 years old."

Shelton High School Headmaster Beth Smith said some of the students did talk to counselors on Tuesday. Smith said what makes it even harder is the victim's older brother also goes to the school.
