NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Coffee and beignets and crawfish and beer are Louisiana favorites - but what about king cake and burgers?
The unusual combo unveiled Monday at CBD food truck Food Drunk NOLA is quickly becoming the most popular thing on the menu - cheese-draped patties nestled between purple, green and gold frosted king cake buns.
The treat generated buzz on Facebook and other social media sites when Food Drunk NOLA posted the new offering.
"It's a great tool to use. Social media is awesome if it's used correctly," said Arkesha Baquet who saw the Facebook post and came to the CBD from Harvey just to get a bite.
"It looked so good. It really did. I like king cake. I like burgers. So I thought it was the best combination," said Baquet. She savored her first bite. "Oh yeah. It's good. The sugar and the salt makes it even better," she said.
If you are dying to try the concoction, you can find Food Drunk NOLA in its regular lunch spot on Loyola and Poydras Thursday. After that, you'll have to track them down on the parade route throughout the season.
