‘Truck Safety Day’ held at State Capitol

Posted: Updated:

It was "Truck Safety Day" today at the State Capitol all in an effort to promote safe driving when you're sharing the road with big rigs.

Trucks and simulators were on display for the public to check out. Anti-roll and skid protection were just a few of the truck's safety features. These new vehicle improvements were put into place to help keep the truck drivers and other cars on the road safer.

"A lot of these vehicles have braking systems with radars at the front of the truck. There is a radar there so that if a car slows down in front of them, the truck will automatically adjust to the speed in front of that vehicle. It is showing the blind spots to know how to operate around other vehicles," said Tony Bradley of AZ Trucking Association.

During the latest study released in 2010, truck related fatal crashes dipped to an all-time low of just 31 in Arizona.
