Arizona Cardinals wide receiver LARRY FITZGERALD has been selected to the 2014 Pro Bowl. Initially selected as an alternate, Fitzgerald replaces Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, whose team advanced to Super Bowl XLVIII earlier today.
This is Fitzgerald's eighth Pro Bowl selection (2005, '07-13), tying him with Hall of Fame safety Larry Wilson for the most selections in team history. His seven consecutive selections set a new franchise record surpassing Wilson (1965-70) and Hall of Fame finalist cornerback Aeneas Williams (1994-99) who both were selected six straight years.
Fitzgerald joins Cardinals LB John Abraham, special teamer Justin Bethel, and CB Patrick Peterson at the Pro Bowl. This is the eighth time in team history and first since 2008 that the Cardinals had at least one Pro Bowl selection on offense, defense and special teams.
Fitzgerald had 10 touchdowns in 2013, becoming one of just nine players in NFL history with at least 10 TD receptions in five different seasons.
The 2014 Pro Bowl will be played at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday, January 26 and will be televised on NBC beginning at 5:00 p.m.
