The Arizona Rattlers announce defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock will join the team for the 2014 Arena Football League (AFL) season. The Rattlers acquired Pitcock in a multi-player trade deal. This will be his third season in the AFL and first with the Arizona Rattlers.
Pitcock had a breakout rookie season in 2012 for the Predators with 15.5 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 13 games played. He also played one season in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts, who selected him in the third round of the 2007 draft.
While at Ohio State, Pitcock was named first team All-American and a first team All-Big Ten selection as a senior in 2006. He was also awarded the 2006 Bill Willis Trophy, given to the top collegiate defensive lineman of the year. In 2005, he was named second team All-Big Ten.
The Rattlers traded defensive back Arness Ikner, wide receiver LaMark Brown, offensive linemen Joe Gibbs and Justin Wells, and its No.12 claim spot to the Orlando Predators. In exchange, the team received 6-foot-3, 300-pound Pitcock and the No.7 claim spot.
