MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting in a Mesa apartment complex parking lot Tuesday night.

The boy stumbled to the front door of a unit at the Pebble Creek apartments at 950 E Southern Ave. and knocked for help about 7:10 p.m., said Mesa police Sgt. Tony Landato. The resident called 911 and the victim was rushed to the hospital.

Landato said he believed the victim lived in the complex, but the victim didn't know the woman who called 911.

Witnesses said they saw two men running from the scene.

Landato said the suspects were described as two heavy-set men in their mid- to late 20s.

No other information was immediately available.
