A Phoenix woman is cashing in big before Christmas and planning a special trip for her son.
Arizona Lottery officials said Karina Ahumada claimed the $1 million second place Powerball prize from the drawing on Dec. 14.
Ahumada bought the two-line Powerball Quick Pick ticket at the Shell Food Mart located at 9853 N. 19th Ave. in Phoenix.
"You won a lot of money. You'll have to go to the lottery office to claim your prize," the clerk told her when she went to the store to check her ticket.
She hurried to the lottery office with her boyfriend and brother in law to find out how much she won.
Ahumada works in the kitchen of a Valley school district. She plans to use the money to pay off some bills and take her son to Disneyland's Cars Land. She said she's considering buying a new car and plans to invest the rest of her winnings.
It's the 28th $1 million Powerball second prize winning ticket sold in Arizona since $2 Powerball launched in January 2012.
The next Powerball drawing is on Christmas for an estimated $74 million jackpot.
