Wreck closes southbound lanes of Hwy 21 in Port Wentworth

PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) -

Port Wentworth Police and Port Wentworth Fire are at the scene of a wreck with injuries involving two trucks on Hwy 21.

It happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Hwy 21 south near the intersection of Burnt Oak Road headed toward I-95. A dump truck rear-ended another dump truck, sending one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

At this time, both of the southbound lanes on Hwy 21 are closed. Officials say the road should be closed for at least 2 more hours in order to get the trucks towed out and to clean-up the oil that leaked onto the roadway. Police have started to let southbound traffic go around the wreck, however, drivers are still advised to seek an alternate route if possible or expect delays because traffic will be slow-going in the area.

We will continue to follow road conditions in the area. Check WTOC.com and WTOC on Facebook and Twitter for updates.
