Grand Canyon University senior setter Keith Smith is one of 16 players selected on the watch list for the inaugural Lloy Ball Award, which will be presented for the first time in 2014.
The award is named after the IPFW All-American and four-time Olympian.
"It's a testament to Keith's growth and maturation," said GCU coach Jeremy Price. "He has a lot of match experience. His hard work the last few years has paid off and he's being recognized as one of the top setters in the MIVA if not nationally."
Smith led the MIVA with 1,294 assists and was in the nation's top five averaging 10.78 assists per game last season. In addition, Smith in the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals had 48 assists to help Grand Canyon upset Ohio State for its first postseason victory in program history.
