According to officials with highway patrol, a man died after a car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cora's Grove Road and Penderlea Highway. According to officials with highway patrol, a man died after a car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cora's Grove Road and Penderlea Highway.

BURGAW, NC (WECT) - A man died after a car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cora's Grove Road and Penderlea Highway in Pender County, according to officials with Highway Patrol.

The accident happened around 8:40 Thursday Morning. 

According to Trooper Kaiser, Ironia Harris, from Burgaw, was traveling east on Cora's Grove Road when she ran a stop sign and hit a pick up truck that was traveling north on Penderlea Highway.

As a result, the driver, Elbert Morgan, from Rocky Point, was ejected from the pick up truck after the truck hit a ditch and overturned. 

Morgan was taken to hospital where is later died from his injuries. 

Harris is being charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and stop sign violation.
