PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A shooting sparked by an argument over money left one man dead and his 47-year-old roommate behind bars Sunday night.

Gary McGill was booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

When police arrived in the 12800 block of North 44th Lane, they found the victim, 47-year-old William Locke, unconscious inside his vehicle and suffering a gunshot wound.

Locke was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said they learned Locke was moving out of the home when he and his roommate got embroiled in a fight. McGill grabbed a handgun and opened fire, Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said.

McGill remained at the scene and made no formal statements to police.
