Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defenseman Connor Murphy to the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 20-year-old Murphy skated in 22:32 and scored his first career goal in his NHL debut vs. TBL on Nov. 16. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound native of Dublin, Ohio has also registered five assists with nine penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games with the Pirates this season. He ranked tied for second on the team in assists at the time of his recall.
Murphy was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (20th overall) in the 2011 Entry Draft.
