Crews in Bristol worked to repair a water main leak reported Friday morning.
According to the Bristol Water Department's Facebook page, the leak was reported on Park Street between Divinity and Tulip streets.
Water department officials said crews located the leak and determined that service was not properly restored in that area when a home was knocked down several years ago.
Crews were able to disconnect the line without shutting off the water to people in the surrounding area, water department officials said.
"We no longer allow houses or buildings to be knocked down without the water service being disconnected first," the Bristol Water Department said in a statement Friday.
Officials said that since Park Street is an older road and crews are currently "backfilling the area."
Traffic is open, but is reduced to alternating traffic. The road is expected to be completely opened before the evening commute.
