Maricopa County will participate along with 240 other agencies statewide in an exercise to test emergency response to an extended power outage.
County officials say the event is set for Wednesday and Thursday and will include the activation of an emergency operations center in cooperation with the sheriff's office and other agencies to test systems aimed at responding to a simulated major power loss.
Specific details about the drill are not being released ahead of the exercise, which is designed to test how well agencies respond.
The power outage will only be simulated and will not affect Arizona residents.
