The Grand Canyon University men's golf team today played 36 holes of the Price's "Give Em Five" Invitational, hosted by Texas-El Paso at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas. The Antelopes are currently in 12th after carding an eight-over 584 through two rounds on the Par 72 course.
This marks the final fall tournament for GCU.
The 'Lopes were in 13th following the first 18 holes with a seven-over 295, but improved their team score by six strokes in the second round with a one-over 289.
New Mexico State leads the 15-field team after carding a 25-under 551 today, eight strokes ahead of second place Colorado. San Jose State rounds out the top-three at 15-under 561.
Colton West led the way for the 'Lopes with a one-over 145, collecting a team-best eight birdies on the day, and is tied for 32nd. Alec Dahlquist was one stroke behind West at two-over 146 to tie for 37th. He had seven birdies through the two rounds and also added an eagle on the 18th hole of the first round.
Currently, there is a four-way tie for first place between UTEP's Martin Simonsen, San Jose State's Marcus Potter and Cody Blick, and New Mexico State's Pat Beyhan, as each stand at eight-under 136.
Mark Geddes is tied for 44th after carding a three-over 147. Geddes also collected an eagle on the day, doing so on the second hole in Round 2.
Hayden Webb and Billy Comeaux are tied for 56th with matching scores of six-over 150.
The 'Lopes will play the final round of the tournament tomorrow, with tee times set for 7 a.m. (Arizona time). Live scoring is available and the link can be found at www.gculopes.com.
