SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was arrested Friday, nearly two weeks after he allegedly pointed a knife at the driver of a SUV, Scottsdale police said.

John McLaughlin, 23, of Phoenix, was taken into custody at his home while walking out to his motorcycle. The knife and helmet were recovered at the scene, officers said.

The arrest stems from the alleged Oct. 5 incident on Scottsdale Road near Ashler Hills.

The victim's 6-year-old daughter was in the SUV when McLaughlin allegedly displayed the weapon, police said. Officers said the alleged threat caused the girl to fear for her safety.

The suspect sped off on his dark-colored motorcycle, wearing a dark helmet with a red mohawk. The victim told police the suspect had a tattoo on his forearm.

Information from the report reached an officer who recognized the description which led police to identify the suspect.

McLaughlin was booked into jail on a charge of aggravated assault.
