PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 35-year-old man was in custody after leading Phoenix police on a chase Sunday morning.

Michael Rodriguez was booked into jail on suspicion of unlawful flight and being a prohibited possessor of a weapon after the chase that began about 8:30 a.m., according to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Glendale police notified Phoenix police that Rodriguez was involved in a possible kidnapping. Phoenix officers then found a pickup truck matching the description provided by Glendale and the pursuit began when the driver failed to stop.

The chase started near 51st and Glendale avenues and ended at 6500 W. McDowell Rd. when the driver and a woman passenger stopped and fled on foot.

Officers found Rodriguez and the woman after a search of the neighborhood.

Glendale police later said the woman got into the truck voluntarily and that no kidnapping occurred.
