A man, who identified himself as a reverend, was charged with promoting prostitution in East Hartford, police said.
Police received complaints about possible prostitution occurring at the Ramada Inn on Roberts Street. Following their investigation, Henry Price, 61, was arrested.
However, Price, who was a one-time Hartford activist, has a history of connections to prostitution.
In September 2002, he accepted a plea bargain to serve eight years for promoting prostitution. He also faced additional charges for sexual assault and kidnapping, but was acquitted of those.
Prosecutors alleged Price ran an escort service out of his Hartford home and area motels.
Price was held on a $10,000 bond and is due in court in the coming weeks.
