Phase Two of the Tempe Police Department's joint law enforcement Safe & Sober campaign netted 58 total DUI arrests over a three-day period.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office joined last Thursday through Saturday's effort that targets alcohol-related crimes and safety of youth in the city and on the Arizona State University campus.
The average blood alcohol content of those nabbed was .138. There were 13 extreme DUI arrests and six people were taken into custody on super extreme DUI charges.
The first phase of the campaign started Aug. 15. A date for Phase Three has not yet been set.
The total number of DUI arrests from Aug. 15 to Sept. 14 stands at 367.
Numerous agencies from around the Valley and state participated in the DUI Task Force, including police departments from Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa and Scottsdale, MCSO, Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
