PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A traffic collision resulted in a bizarre death when a light pole fell on an innocent bystander Sunday night.

Michael Vince Miller, 25, was killed when the pole fell on him near the intersection shortly after 7 p.m., said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Two vehicles had collided at the intersection of 15th Avenue and McDowell Road and one of the vehicles then hit the pole.

Miller, who is believed to have been walking away from the intersection, died instantly, Martos said.

Impairment was not believed to have been a factor, but the investigation was continuing, Martos said.

There was no word on the conditions of the drivers of the two vehicles and no other information was immediately available.
