WASHINGTON, Sept. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gina McCarthy, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, will address a National Press Club breakfast at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20.
Administrator McCarthy will highlight the Administration's commitment to carrying out President Obama's Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution and address the impacts of a changing climate. She will also discuss her vision for the EPA and challenges the Agency will face going forward. McCarthy has been a leading advocate for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment.
McCarthy was confirmed as President Barack Obama's second EPA chief in July. The environmental health expert had served as assistant administrator since the beginning of Obama's presidency. She recently argued that climate change is not just an environmental problem but also a threat to U.S. economic prosperity.
