The Grand Canyon University men's basketball team today announced their schedule for the 2013-14 season. This season will mark the first for the Antelopes in the Western Athletic Conference as they begin their transition into the Division I ranks.

GCU's schedule will feature 12 games at Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix and will be highlighted by road contests with schools from the Pac-12, Mountain West, Conference USA, West Coast Conference, Summit League and the Big Sky.
The season begins with an exhibition contest against UC San Diego on Nov. 1 at GCU Arena. The Antelopes will have three non-conference regular season matchups at home with Western New Mexico visiting on Nov. 16, San Diego Christian on Nov. 29 and Vanguard on Dec. 3. All games are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m.
Dan Majerle will officially begin his collegiate head coaching career on Nov. 8 when the 'Lopes travel to San Diego, Calif. to face WCC opponents Loyola Marymount on Nov. 8 and San Diego on Nov. 9.
Grand Canyon will make a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah where they will face Utah on Nov. 21. They will remain in the Beehive State for games with Savannah State and Lamar on Nov. 22 and 23, respectively. Savannah State was 19-15 last season coming out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, earning a bid in the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament.
The Antelopes will make the short trip up I-17 to face Northern Arizona on Dec. 14. GCU will then travel to Tulsa, Okla. where Majerle will match up with former Phoenix Suns teammate and Tulsa head coach Danny Manning on Dec. 18.
Grand Canyon travels to Albuquerque, N.M. on Dec. 23 where they will take on the New Mexico Lobos. The Lobos were 29-6 last season and earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Antelopes will complete the non-conference portion of their schedule with two games in a tournament hosted by Tennessee Chattanooga.
The conference season will feature eight home contests and begins with Texas-Pan American on Jan. 2 at GCU Arena. The WAC has nine teams in the conference this season, with newcomers UTPA, Chicago State, CSU Bakersfield, Missouri-Kansas City and Utah Valley joining Idaho, New Mexico State and Seattle.
The GCU men's basketball team got an early start to the 2013-14 season, playing four games in Europe from Aug. 14-24. The squad went 4-0, playing two games in both Italy and Greece.
