Scottsdale police on Tuesday said they have made an arrest in the sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman early Saturday morning.
The suspect, 23-year-old Darryl Cole, was forensically linked to the case, according to a police spokesman. Cole was found in Tempe about 8:30 p.m. Monday and arrested without incident, the spokesman said.
Authorities said the woman had returned to her home near 78th Street and Camelback Road about 2:30 a.m. Saturday but before she could lock her door, Cole forced his way into her apartment, police said.
Cole assaulted the victim as she tried to fight him off, according to police. He then fled out a patio door.
Officials said the woman was injured, but did not require hospitalization. It was possible the suspect was injured from the victim fighting back, but police were unable to describe the injuries.
