Posted: Updated:

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed left wing Mikkel Boedker to a two-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to sign Mikkel prior to the beginning of training camp," said Maloney. "Mikkel is an important player for us and having him under contract makes us a better team."

Last season, the 6-foot, 211-pound Boedker recorded 7-19-26 and 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 48 games. The 23-year-old native of Brondby, Denmark played in a career-high 82 games with the Coyotes in 2011-12, registering 11-13-24 and 12 PIM.

"I'm thrilled to sign a new contract with the Coyotes," said Boedker. "We have a great team and coaching staff and I'm really looking forward to this season."

In parts of five NHL seasons with the Coyotes, Boedker has played in 256 regular season games, registering 34-61-95 and 50 PIM. He has also appeared in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording 4-5-9 and two PIM. He scored the overtime game-winning goals in games three and four of the 2012 Western Conference Quarterfinals against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Boedker was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (eighth overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
