PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Grand Canyon University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision today against Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The Antelopes fell to 0-3 on the season, while the Jaguars are now 2-1-1.

GCU outshot IUPUI (14-7) for the contest, although the Jaguars held the narrow advantage in shots on goal (5-4).

Jessica Fitzgerald attempted three shots for the 'Lopes, while Jessica Lincoln placed both of her shots on goal.

The 'Lopes came out firing in the first 45 minutes, outshooting the Jaguars by a margin of 6-2, and putting two of those shots on goal. IUPUI was unable to put a shot on target as the contest was scoreless at the half.

Similar to Friday's game, it was physical from the start, with the teams called for 15 fouls in the first half and an additional 11 fouls whistled in the second 45 minutes.

The Jaguars broke the scoreless tie eight minutes into the second half on a straight-shot goal from 14 yards out in the 53rd minute. IUPUI added another goal late in the game, this time via a long shot in the 87th minute.

Once again, the 'Lopes had more offensive opportunities with eight shots in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

GCU will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 6 when they travel to Fort Collins, Colo., to take on Colorado State, members of the Mountain West Conference, at 4 p.m. (Arizona time). The 'Lopes will remain in Colorado for a contest at Air Force, also MWC members, on Sunday at 11 a.m. (Arizona time). Fans can follow the action via live stats by visiting www.gculopes.com.
