The Phoenix Mercury is teaming up with Waddell & Reed, Inc. to host a basketball clinic for Valley youth on Saturday, August 24 from 3-5 p.m. on the Mercury's main court at US Airways Center. The clinic is free and open to the public to attend.
Fans interested in participating can RSVP at http://www.wnba.com/mercury/waddell.html. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m., with admission closing at 3 p.m.
Mercury forward Candice Dupree, center Lynetta Kizer and the entire Mercury coaching staff will be on hand to teach kids several different drills including ball handling, shooting, defense and rebounding.
While the children are learning basketball fundamentals, adults (ages 18 and older) in attendance are invited to attend a brief information-only seminar on the arena's practice court to learn about saving for college. Upon completion of the seminar, each adult will receive two free tickets to see the Phoenix Mercury host the San Antonio Silver Stars on September 6. Tipoff is scheduled for 7p.m.*
