A woman was found tied up after she walked in on her Fountain Hills' home being burglarized, according to authorities.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said the 63-year-old woman returned to her home from a morning exercise and found the burglar inside her home near Saguaro and Shea boulevards.
MCSO said she confronted him and the suspect assaulted her and then tied her up. The suspect then pointed a gun at her back before ransacking the home and fleeing, according to MCSO.
MCSO said they are actively looking for the suspect who is believed to be armed and dangerous.
The woman's son-in-law, a Glendale police officer, found her about 8 a.m. Monday.
She is being treated at Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital.
"We have a lot of burglaries, but when you have a vicious attack against a senior citizen I think it takes it to a different, you know, step that we need to be concerned with," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.
The son-in-law, identified as Jacob Martinson, has been with the Glendale Police Department for nine years.
